 Who Are We?

Imperial Broads are a noisy, deranged, pop explosion led by three singer-songwriters who work together to make a delightfully raucous, urgent, and melodic sound. The band started off learning to write and play in a Marrickville garage in the dead of winter with ambitious ideas of making harmony-packed punk music. Sydney stages became a second home as the band honed their sound playing every down-and-dirty stage on offer. These days, Imperial Broads let you into their world of awkward romance, debauchery, daydreaming, and mundanity, supercharged through their strange but catchy combo of distortion and groove that gets the audiences dancing.

Drunk people at shows have described us as: “blasting”, “mad”, “doo-wop-punk”, “garage”, “like something off the Aussie 80s Ugly Things comp” and “CBGBs 70s era”. With a rhythm section aiming for New York punk, three lead vocals layered with harmonies and guitar influences equally Roland S Howard and The Shadows, we are hell bent on making our own brand of interesting noise.
